Austin LBJ High School has been forced to forfeit all of its 2024 football victories due to the participation of ineligible players, according to a decision made by the University Interscholastic League (UIL) during a Thursday District Executive Committee meeting, as first reported by the Austin American-Statesman.
The Jaguars had posted a perfect 11-0 regular season, clinched the Class 4A Division I District 13 title, and reached the area round of the playoffs before being narrowly defeated by La Vernia, 13-10. However, the UIL’s ruling means all 11 wins, including the district championship, have now been vacated, significantly reshaping the district standings.
With LBJ’s wins nullified, Taylor High School Ducks, previously the runner-up with a 5-6 overall record and 5-1 district mark will be named the new district champion. As of now, neither Austin ISD officials nor LBJ head coach Joseph Rauls have issued public statements regarding the situation.
LBJ’s 2024 squad had been considered one of the most talented in the region, led by standout quarterback Ali Scott (2,392 passing yards, 33 touchdowns, 2 interceptions), running back Caleb Crenshaw (1,342 yards, 20 touchdowns), and key receivers Louis Hickman and Javarlyn Smith, who combined for over 1,500 receiving yards and 22 touchdowns. Both Crenshaw and defensive back Yaheim Riley have since transferred to Anderson High School, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the team’s future.
A dominant force in Class 4A since 2018, LBJ has claimed five district championships and made deep playoff runs, including a state finals appearance in 2021. This forfeiture now casts a shadow over what was shaping up to be another championship-caliber season, with the 2025 campaign set to begin August 29 against Sam Houston.
