One of the top athletes in Texas is headed to the Pacific Northwest. Jalen Lott, a dynamic 4-star playmaker from Panther Creek (Lucas, TX), announced his commitment to Oregon on Tuesday, choosing the Ducks over a stacked list of finalists that included Texas, LSU, USC, and Georgia.

Lott, listed at 6-foot, 170 pounds, becomes the 14th commit in Oregon’s 2026 class and their second out of Texas, joining running back Tradarian Ball out of Texarkana Texas High. A versatile athlete, Lott has the tools to play on both sides of the ball, but Oregon is bringing him in primarily as a wide receiver.

He’s currently ranked the No. 54 overall prospect in the country, the No. 2 athlete, and the No. 11 player in Texas according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. Last season, Lott proved why he’s so highly rated catching 85 passes for 1,111 yards and 16 touchdowns while also rushing for four more scores. His efforts helped Panther Creek to a 10-2 record and earned him District 7-4A D1 Offensive MVP honors.

This commitment is also significant for Oregon considering Lott’s deep ties to Texas. His father, James Lott, is a Texas Longhorn legend who played defensive back and won three NCAA high jump titles during his time in Austin. He was inducted into the Longhorn Hall of Honor in 2017.

Despite that connection, the younger Lott said Oregon’s consistency and development under head coach Dan Lanning played a major role in his decision.

“I’ve been up there four or five times since my freshman year,” Lott told ScoopDuck. “Everything Coach Lanning said they’d do, they’ve done. Now they just need to win a national championship.”

Lott adds even more firepower to Oregon’s wide receiver group, joining fellow 4-star prospect Messiah Hampton from New York as part of the Ducks’ 2026 haul under WRs coach Ross Douglas.

And for the second year in a row, Oregon has dipped into the Lone Star State for elite receiver talent. Last July, the Ducks landed 5-star Duncanville standout Dakorien Moore in a major win on the trail.

Lott also stars on the track, showing elite speed and explosiveness in the sprints and jumps much like his dad once did. With this commitment, Oregon continues to prove they’re a serious national player when it comes to recruiting Texas talent.
